Leaders of the New Century Special Edition #1

Excellent!!
This AudioCD with Michael Dell, Jack Welch, Jack Greenberg and Quincy Jones is worth a lot more than it's weight in gold. The listener is given the rare opportunity to view the business landscape from the perspective of great leaders who captain some of the biggest and best run companies on the planet. Success in business is about vision, innovation, customers, branding, team building and execution. The candid interviews on this CD bring these points home very clearly. If Tom Peters ever decides to write In Search of Excellence - the millennium edtion, he would do well to begin with the leaders featured on CD #1. Job well done by Mark Thompson and Richard Wilson.

The Real Thing
Forget all the theory and nonsense you hear from the gurus and academics about what they 'imagine' a leader should or could do! This is the real thing. Real CEOs talk about their best ideas and worst mishaps. Finally we hear what works and what doesn't in plain English from people who actually have done it! No secret sauce. No bull. I listened to Leaders of the New Century during my commute this week and I'm requiring my senior management team to listen to the whole set.

Its good to hear real interviews
This audio CD was a refreshing change from the usual audiobook on leadership. Instead of the typical announcer reading from a script - or author reading from a script - this had the interviewees speaking off the cuff about their experiences as leaders.

I particularly enjoyed the interview with Michael Dell. As a business owner, I could take and apply much of what he discussed to my business.

Overall, a very well done CD, with some fascinating guests, discussing what it takes to lead. I look forward to hearing the rest of the series.

Leadership 101
Every CEO should require their team to listen to these leaders. When I think of all the time our management team has wasted with consultants and gurus, I know now that the first thing you should do is get a copy of this series for everyone who works for you and require them to listen to it. This is what leaders have done to win their people and customers from actual interviews with the CEOs themselves. Easy listening format with some interesting insights from leaders in many fields.

This is what leaders have done to win their people and customers in the words of the leaders themselves.

Leadership Masterpiece
Thompson and Wilson have put together a remarkable series here, with wisdom from people who have fought for their dreams, suffered setbacks and yet succeeded in every imaginable part of the human experience. Will it make you a better leader and manager? Sure. But the reason is that it's not just about leadership; it's about finding out what matters, then going out and making a difference.

Lion in the Streets

Modern Drama at It's BEST
This play is brilliant. I don't know what is in the water in Canada, but it certainly has one major side affect.... AMAZING TALENT. Read this play. Read it often. Buy it now.

She is Judith Hear Her Roar!!
Judith Thompson writes like no other playwright I have come across. It is like a poetic version of language we hear every day on the streets. Her mixture of unsettlingly extreme, yet disturbingly real situations and dark humor take the reader on an emotional ride that is not soon forgotten. As an actor,I find the emotional life and depth she gives to each character in a scene (no matter how small the part) is such a refreshing change. The reader, or audience gets a real look at each characters inner core, even though their scene may be over within a matter of minutes. This play is extremely underated and should be read by all. There are lions in all of our streets, and we must learn to take our lives back.

this play will devour your misbeliefs
do yourselves a favor-- fancy yourself a playwright?

take a note from judith thompson's lion in the streets.

otherwise, you're not getting it.

Little Quack

Authors: Derek Anderson and Lauren Thompson

Ducky Fun.....
"Mama Duck had five little ducklings, Widdle, Waddle, Piddle, Puddle, and Little Quack. They all lived together in a nice, soft nest. But even Mama's littlest duckling was not so little anymore. "It's time to leave the nest," she said one day..." And that means it's time to learn to swim and take that first dip in the pond. All the little ducklings are very anxious, especially Little Quack. But one by one, with a lot of encouragement from Mama, they conquer their fear and take the plunge..... Lauren Thompson's simple, repetitive text is engaging and begs to be read aloud and shared. But it's Derek Anderson's exuberant and playful illustrations that really make this picture book a stand-out. Each large, dazzling spread is filled with bold color, marvelous facial expressions, eye-catching detail, and lots of humor, that makes this a perfect selection for story time. An inventive Quack-U-Lator running along the bottom of each page introduces counting and addition, and just adds to the fun. Little Quack is a delightful, interactive, preschool crowd pleaser that's sure to become an often requested, instant favorite both at school and at home.

A book everyone will enjoy!
The illustrations are wonderful. My 13-month-old loves to look at the pictures. I enjoy them, too, which makes this one of our favorite books. Also, since this book incorporates counting and addition, it will be a book we will keep reading as my son gets older.

Little Quack
Every child's library should have this little treasure! The artwork alone is worth the cost of the book. Derek Anderson's
five ducklings are so humorous, just to look at! Each one being quite different and amusing in its own adorable way with feathers poking up like little cowlicks as they each take Momma Duck's warm encouragement to enter the water for the first time. Oh, how I love this book!

Stars
My mom got my 4-year old sister Little Star By Sarah Willson and she enjoyed it much. I read it to her every night. My friend and me did a play on this book. My sister liked the play. My friend was Dora and I was boots, the grumpy old troll, and swiper. I enjoyed doing it.

cute story
a great bedtime story about making nighttime wishes. follows dora storyline. has all the favorite characters. we love it.

A cute and fun read before bedtime!
This was the very first Dora book I bought for my three year old. The story itself is about a little star that falls down onto the ground and dora and boots have to figure out how to put the star back.
Each page has something on it that is easy to talk about or have kids point out. One page asks you to count the stars on it, and another asks what ideas your child may have to put the star back.
I have to say that this book is not very long and very easy to read. There are four or five spanish words in it too but it is not a big deal if you skip them. My daughter and I really enjoyed this book. The last page ends in good night so it is really nice bedtime book. I have to buy all the books in the series now!

The Meanest Man in Texas: A True Story Based on the Life of Clyde Thompson
Published in Paperback by Thomas Nelson (April, 1984)
Author: Don Umphrey
Average review score:

Author tells why he wrote this book
When another reviewer wrote that this book was a must-read for people who have reached the bottom of the barrel, I agreed whole-heartedly. The reason I wrote the book was to get across the point that no matter how low in life one gets, God will help if He is asked. Clyde Thompson's life story illustrates this so beautifully. And it's not just because I wrote the book, but because Clyde lived it. I appeciate the positive reviews. Best wishes...

The Meanest Man in Texas
The Meanest Man in Texas begins as a story about a young man just trying to live in the days of the depression. Because of his youth and his limited knowledge of life, people, the law, he ends up going from basically a good kid to a man on death row. The book takes you into his life and his struggles to survive behind bars. It reveals how the "meanest man" came to learn that not only can life be better in prison, but there can be a better life, eternally, if you have God. It is a very satisfying and uplifting factual book.

Very inspirational
This inspirational book tells the true story of Clyde Thompson, once called the "meanest man in Texas." He began studying the Bible, was converted, and went on to help other inmates clean their lives up. A must read for people who think their lives are too messed up to be straightened out.

QUEST TO BE KING

THEN AFTER A ENCOUNTER WITH THE LEADER OF THE DARK ALLIANCE WHICH CONSISTS OF SARDA LITORIS AND TORRIDIA,SARDA THE LEADER HE LEARNS A SECRET. UNFORTUNATELY HE HAS NO TIME TO PONDER THIS FOR GADALLA IS ABOUT TO BE ATTACKED BY THE DARK ALLIANCE. THE GADALLAN, KAPNOS, AND KOLONIAN ARMIES ARE AT THE BATTLE FIELD, BUT ARE LOSING! CAN THE DIDERAN ARMIE GET THERE IN TIME?

QUEST TO BE KING
PRINCE TRAVE SETS AOUT WITH THE KING OF KAPNOS TO FIND HIS FATHER'S MEDALLION TO PROVE THAT HE IS THE RIGHTFUL KING OF GADALLA. THEN AFTER A BAD ENCOUNTER WITH THE ENEMY HE LEARNS A STARTLING SECRET BUT HAS NO TIME TO PONDER IT BECAUSE HE HAS TO SAVE GADALLA FROM BEING USURPED BY THE ENEMIES

What makes a King?
Trave is prince of Gadalla, but he should be king. His fatherdied long ago, and he often reminds himself that his uncle, Panii, isnot the rightful king. One day he will rule. Now Trave is not allowed to own a falcon. Now he is not allowed a horse. One day he will have a stable full of fine horses. One day all Gadalla will listen to him and obey his every word.

Trave has little thought of any but himself (and horses)until he meets a visitor to Gadalla, Gris, the wise king of Kapnos. This king remembers Trave's father, of whom it is forbidden to speak. King Gris may be able to help Trave get his throne. He promises to lead Trave on the dangerous journey to find the medallion which is the mark of the true king.

Trave and Gris set off at once, on a journey which leads far. Trave finds himself forced to do many things which do not seem the job of a king, and forbidden to do what a king should be allowed. Perhaps Gris is not truly helping him. Perhaps there is a better way to the crown. Perhaps the medallion does not even exist.

In his journeys, Trave learns the dutys of a king:

To learn what is true;

To believe the truth;

To act on that belief.

Though totally fictitious, this is one of the greatest children's books I have read. An exciting story is used to teach the lesson which Christ so humbly demonstrated by washing His disciples feet: The true king is first a servant.

My New Town: A Flying Naptime Adventure
Published in Hardcover by This New World (June, 2003)
Author: Dave Thompson
Average review score:

A joyful rhyming picture book
Volume 1 of the "Flying Naptime Adventure" series from This New World Publishing, My New Town is a joyful rhyming picture book featuring bold color illustrations and a cheery story by D. R. Thompson, about Sally-Ann, a young girl who, along with her mother, grow wings during dreamtime and use them to fly freely. A playful story that teaches young folks that naptime and dreams can be fun, My New Town is an original, cleverly executed, and highly recommended picture book story for children ages 3 to 8.

Imagination and comfort
This book was bright and fun, but most of all my kids had fun thinking about flying through a city. I think it would help them have more comfort in their surrondings when they move to a new city.

OH HOW I LOVE TO FLY
A young girl's family has moved to a new town. The girl is not happy about the change. Then, by miracle or magic or a dream, the girl and her mother grow wings as soon as they lay down to have a nap. Of course, they go flying, and they see the city from bird's eye view. I'm sure the city must be Portland, OR! The girl's concerns are addressed by what they see when they fly, and when they wake up from the nap, their wings are gone. But a feather is lying nearby, ruling out the possibility that the experience was only a dream, but the people in the book don't know that.

This is the first in a series of "dreaming" adventures.

I liked this book very much, as do my children. I recommend it for anyone who wants to have a fun, bright picture book, and one which will help you talk to very young ones about change. Does not address serious issues about relocation that older kids may have.

The New Cajun-Creole Cooking
Published in Paperback by H.P. Books (October, 1994)
Author: Terry Thompson
Average review score:

I use this book for almost every occasion!
I hosted a Mardi Gras party and lucked-out finding this absolutly wonderful book. The recipes are easy to follow and everything that I have made (at least a dozen or so)has turned out great. I am constantly being asked for these recipes so now I am buying several copies to give to those close family and friends who have mentioned that they would like to buy it. The best of the best: Shrimp in mustard sauce, Sun-dried tomato pesto, Jezebel sauce, Cajun-Country bread pudding w/rum sauce and Chantilly cream, and on and on.

Absolutely Delicious Authentic Recipes!
I have prepared many of the dishes in the new book. All were excelent. The recipes were easy to follow. The Authentic dishes take more time to prepare than the quickie recipes from other books but WOW! what a difference in flavor. This book is a must for anyone wanting to entertain guests with Cajun-Creole flavors.

My favorite Cajun cookbook
All of the recipes that I have tried in this book, from the staples to the exotic, are wonderful. Some of them (such as the Red Beans & Rice or the Artichoke-Heart Casserole) have become favorites to be prepared whenever I want to impress or just enjoy good eating.

Recipes include background information about how dishes came about, when they should be served and with what. They range from simple, everyday dishes to elaborate, impressive feasts.

If you buy only one Cajun cookbook, buy this one. Its the one to have. I'm buying another one because I wore mine out.

New International Version Thompson Chain Reference Study Bible Bonded Leather #809rp
Published in Hardcover by Kirkbride Bible Company (December, 1981)
Author: Kirkbride Bible & Technology
Average review score:

A MUST for all Christian libraries
You must have this Book only if you are going to study the Scriptures seriously. NIV gives pluses. Non-denomenational type of study is desperately needed not to miss the Truth. This book qualifies all. No authorship except God. No commentaries except other Scriptures linked. GREAT!

Very good Bible Navigator
This book will help you to learn how to explore your Bible in it's depth. This version is greatly adapted for NIV readers

A handy topical guide to the Bible
What sets this work apart from other Bible reference resources is the "chain" index. Bible references are grouped by topic in a logical, intuitive guide. It's a quick way to find out what the Bible has to say on a wide variety of topics. A great teaching, preaching and study resource.
